Thanks to everyone who came out and spent a great day in the sun with us, at the first annual humanist movement Festival of Non-Violence!
About 400 people attended throughout the day, listening to great music, speakers, poetry, getting info from community groups, dancing, and participating in a Ceremony of Non-Violence. There were kids and families, crafts and activities, and a great mix of people.
The Festival was part of many other humanist celebrations all around the world .
A big hearty thank-you to the excellent performers: Russell Leon Band, Samba Elegua, Sinva, Robert Priest (poet), and Spirit Wind.
And the speakers: Howard Jerome, Bob Holmes (Christian Peacemaker Teams) and Saeed Selvam (Stop the Violence).
And the Friends of Dufferin Grove Park, Kalendar Restaurant (raffle prize) and Long and McQuade (donating the PA system).
